Splints can be designed to stretch a joint. This is a person with residual stiffness after finger joint replacements. Splint fabricated by Carl Petitto, OTR/L.

Splints can also be fabricated to rest painful, swollen joints. This is a person after a thumb joint replacement with pain and swelling, benefitting from a compression glove to physically push out the excess fluid. The splint is providing stability to decrease pain between exercise sessions. Splint fabricated by Carl Petitto, OTR/L.

Light strengthening exercise after thumb joint replacement.
